Fashion & Film
I watched Pedro Almodovar's Broken Embraces last night, can you guess what my favorite part of the film was? The costumes of course! Penelope Cruz is a goddess in 90's Chanel, Dior, and Alaia. I was loving the skirt suits.

The costume designer, Sonia Grande, gives an interview to Elle magazine here
In one scene Cruz channels Audrey Hepburn in a prim suit, swinging a tweed 2.55 on her arm, and a few minutes later she's layering a thick gold necklace over a black Chanel gown encrusted with chains....bombshell. Chanel can be so girly and proper, but also over the top glamorous.
“We used fashion as I believe it should be used in film—as a tool used by the director to tell a story, knowing that the wardrobe is not mere ‘street clothing’ but a narrative medium.”~Sonia Grande
I'm looking forward to spending some time in our Chanel section tomorrow, we've got a mini archive ourselves.
