I can't decide which outfit I like better, but the version on the right costs A LOT less!
Left: Theory leather jacket ($195) Prada brocade top ($110) The Row leggings ($245) Louboutin gray suede mary jane ($185) Right: Leather Craft jacket ($59) J. Crew metallic top ($39) Saint Grace leggings ($29) Jonathan Kelsey pumps ($68)
The Closet is all about the high low mix. Do you really need that fancy black blazer for hundreds of dollars? I don't think so. You can find an equally fabulous version at The Closet (I've found above 5 over the years) that will work wonderfully. Pair it with some boyfriend jeans (Gap denim will do just fine) and a simple tee or sequin top, add a handbag, preferably Bottega or Chanel (some things are WORTH investing in) and heels of any kind (I'm partial to an eighties inspired pump.) Now you have your own look a la Balmain and money in the bank.
If you're good you can get away with only spending a little, but looking perfectly put together. There is nothing better than receiving a compliment for an inexpensive item that looks straight off the runway. Here are some more examples:
Fashion is full on Eighties, at the moment, so anything lacy and pink will do the trick this holiday season... Dress ($29) Louis Vuitton skirt ($265)
Put on a printed top! Marni ($165) vs H&M ($12)
There are lots of fun and interesting tweeds, like this pink Lemon jacket ($78) in bright colors and metallics, that scream Chanel ($795) without the $$$ signs.
