The basis of this outfit is a lime and cobalt blue Marni skirt. From the left: Tuleh pleated blouse, navy Row tank, MJ bag ($39!) and Kate Spade sandals. It might not seem like the most logical color combination at first, but I kinda love it. A splash of color looks fresh this summer...don't be afraid of a bright shade!

The Pucci Effect
Being stuck underground on the train for an hour is never fun, but instead of feeling grumpy and letting a bad commute ruin my day, I just imagine myself sitting on a sandy white beach, wearing one of these Pucci tunics, the colors reminiscent of a calm caribbean sea. A much better way to pass the time don't you think?!

Breakfast at Burberry
We all know there is no coat like the Burberry trenchcoat. The brand has been producing versions of it since the early 1900's, originally for officers in the British Army. Audrey Hepburn wore a Burberry in Breakfast at Tiffany's and the classic style has been coveted by both fashionistas and well-dressed gentleman ever since. Perhaps you remember this one, featured in the ad campaign last season. Don't you love the lantern sleeve?!

Shades of Summer
To follow up with the Wedding Dress themed post from last week, here are some bridesmaid/guest options as well. Whether you get to choose your style or not, shades of lilac, fuschia, and chartreuse are all appropriate choices for a summer celebration. The lightest pink dress on top as well as the three on the bottom left are all from a special collection Alexandra Lind Rose designed for Fiandaca, initially priced at $1000, but found at The Closet for under $100. Cheers!

Best Dressed at The Met
The glamour level at the Costume Institute's Annual Gala is comparable to that of the Academy Awards. The gowns were breathtaking, from mini and metallic to floor length elegance. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the bags and shoes either. For the fashion industry it is the biggest event of the year, and the theme of "Model as Muse" brought out some of our favorite designers, starlets, and of course, models. Here are our choices for Best Dressed:

Manolo Blahnik Heels
How do we feel about our shoes costing more than the dress?! Maybe we can make an exception for these Manolos, Sz 38 1/2. This jewel-encrusted pair in bright white goes perfectly with the dress below.

Wedding dresses had for under $100

This dress is by A Common Thread, priced at $45
We loved this article in the Boston Globe. It's always nice to be reminded that you don't need to spend thousands of dollars to look like a million bucks on your wedding day. I bought my prom dress from a vintage store in high school and remember feeling pretty good about the fact I spent $25 instead of $200. The Closet is the perfect place to shop for a party dress, it's easy to find something special, and even if you only wear it once, at least you didn't pay full price!
