Sunday Best
Since it's supposed to be 80 degrees in Boston this weekend, let's break out the dresses and summer sandals, for a couple days at least. I would like to wear this to Sunday brunch at Upstairs on the Square:
Tuleh dress
Is it too early for white shoes?
Eileen Shields heels, sz 38
Just not sure what kind of bag would go best...don't want to be too matchy matchy.

Best Dressed
We had fun at Fashionably Late at the Liberty Hotel last night, hosted by Liana of New Brahmin and Sam Mendoza. There was a fancy fashion show and lots of great outfits, plus celebratory Patron in honor of New Brahmin's first birthday. Pretty sure this was the best looking pair, dressed by The Closet of course.

Black & Tan
It's pretty rare for us to receive a Missoni dress, let alone two in nearly the same print! The patent Marni bag is a great find as well. If you really like to match, why don't you add a pair of Bcbg heels.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

Now showing at the AMC in Harvard Square! This film is a glamourous and entertaining glimpse into the life of Mr. Valentino, his partner Giancarlo Giametti, and of course the precious pugs. You will see beautiful clothes and famous faces, but the best part is watching the interaction between the two men; companions as well as business partners for over 50 years. To be able to witness this point in their lives is pretty amazing AND surprisingly hilarious. I loved the excitement and energy of the parties and fashion shows, but my favorite moment was watching the creation of the couture gowns (especially when the head seamstress Antonietta has a fit over the state of some embroidery). I was also moved by the scene with the designer in his archive before the 45th anniversary celebration, so many collections, year after year...
Here are some of the dresses from the film that I'd most like to wear:

Running in YSL Heels
You will not catch me running in the marathon...I would rather be wearing these heels and my favorite black dress, sipping a cocktail from the sidelines.
Happy Patriots' Day Weekend!
The Closet will be closed Monday, as usual, back open Tuesday at 10am!

The Brightest Balenciaga
What a GORGEOUS day! We have been waiting and waiting for weather like this, so in honor of the sunshine and the arrival of SS '09 here is the brightest Balenciaga we could find.
YSL Star Belt
From Spring 2008It may be straight off the runway...I think the only person with a small enough waist to wear it is the model above!

A Common Thread
We love this label, designed by Rozae Nichols. The color combination and simple design are rather divine (and the brilliant sunlight doesn't hurt!) We have a few other pieces as well...come check them out!
Happy Birthday Closet Blog!
In honor of The Closet Blog's 1st Birthday here is a fashion-filled collage of some of our favorite pieces from the past year. It's kind of amazing to think you can build a wardrobe of this calibre at a consignment shop, and don't forget how much money is being saved! It's pretty much my dream closet...Enjoy!

Chanel Bags
Wedding season is around the corner, which means it's a great time to invest in a fancy new evening bag. These two from Chanel can work for day or night, a slightly dressy or even black tie affair. Tuck the chain inside the silver version and you also have a clutch. We don't get the small sizes often so if you want to update your look, now is your chance!

Chanel Grand Shopping Tote
We are pleased to present the Grand Shopping Tote. SOLD It's pretty much the perfect everyday bag and the fact that it's black makes it even harder to resist. Consider the cost per wear and it's paid off within a year! Also, as you probably know, Chanel is more likely to raise their prices instead of put items on sale. The retail of this particular bag increased this past fall by 10%. Of course you always get a discount at The Closet!

LBD Award: Herve Leger

It is always hard to resist the perfect little black dress, this one especially! Combine vintage Herve Leger (from Bergdorf Goodman) and the brand's famed stretch fabric with a never fail nipped waist silhouette, cap sleeves, and delicate halter detail for the sexiest, most flattering mini dress we have seen in quite a while. Marked size L, but looks more like an XS to me!

Luella Shades
Thought a fun pair of cotton candy pink Luella shades might help brighten this rainy afternoon in Boston...too bad I can't wear these to Red Sox opening day since it was postponed!!!

Flirty Frocks
Here is a combination of pretty pastels and prints that pop. Ranging from classic florals (Luisa Beccaria) to Missoni's signature zig zag knit, these are just right for spring. Pair the pink Chanel tweed skirt with a light cashmere sweater and slingbacks and you have your Easter outfit!

Size Six?!

Lucky you! The yellow snakeskin pumps are Proenza Schouler, sharp! I love the light gray Dior heels, so forties. Of course, their interpretation of the clog, with a 4 inch heel, is kinda great, but the prize goes to Bottega Veneta for sky high wooden platforms in a beautiful blush.
