Fit for a Queen

We have this dress in the store right now! This simple and flattering design is fit for a queen!
These satin flats are size 38 1/2. They are brand new!
One of our most stylish customers has come to the consensus that if she could only be dressed by one person for the rest of her life, it would be Tomas Maier of Bottega Veneta. I will take the handbags!

For the Boys
A few boxes of 45 Rpm, Engineered Garments and some Visvim has just come in. There are a variety of shirts, denim, and jackets, it's good stuff!
In the Mix
If you are like me and wear a lot of black, it's not that easy to just throw on the color come spring. I suggest starting with a shoe, or a printed top, add a pair of skinny black pants and your favorite black blazer. This way you don't look so boring, but you still feel like yourself.

A Modern Mary Poppins
Spring is all about mixing fabric, proportion, color, and texture to create a unique look for yourself. Although we stuck to black and white this time, I think it was a success! Ms. Poppins wears a turban hat by Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester's cotton print tank, a Margiela ribbon cardigan, voluminous silk Lanvin skirt, and a pair of Costume National sandals. She is carrying a patent Armani bag, and she means business!

Vote The Closet #1
The Phoenix has nominated us as the best vintage store in Boston, of course, The Closet is not really a vintage store (it's high end consignment folks!) but we still like to be #1!

So What Do You Do
There's a nice long interview with Sally Singer, News/Features Director at Vogue on Mediabistro. See, Anna Wintour is not that bad! And, as is the case with most stylish people, Sally shops secondhand. Enjoy!

Sale of the Day
There are not many stores where you can find a Rick Owens jacket, Marc Jacobs Collection tunic (seen below), and a Proenza Schouler cashmere cardigan for less than $400...but someone quite savvy did today The Closet!

It pays to be a regular!

Chain Gang
You can't go wrong with black & white. From left: The Row's unconstructed silk jacket, so luxurious (and very small). Then a striped vest from Ann Demeulemeester, the black version atop a cream silk Row tank, and next some of their super skinny stretch cotton leggings (we have two pairs). Mix these together with a pair of ankle boots, a strappy sandal, or even a flat, and you are good to go!Tuesday, February 17, 2009

A Tote for a Tuesday
Take your pick! The chocolate brown quilted caviar Chanel is divine, don't need to sell you on that one. We love the distorted diagonal pattern on the Burberry. There is also a nice black nylon Chanel hidden behind the two as well as a prim gray floral Burberry. Hmmmm look at that stack of orange boxes, wonder what's in there?!
***The Chanel bags have been sold.
