Now showing at the AMC in Harvard Square! This film is a glamourous and entertaining glimpse into the life of Mr. Valentino, his partner Giancarlo Giametti, and of course the precious pugs. You will see beautiful clothes and famous faces, but the best part is watching the interaction between the two men; companions as well as business partners for over 50 years. To be able to witness this point in their lives is pretty amazing AND surprisingly hilarious. I loved the excitement and energy of the parties and fashion shows, but my favorite moment was watching the creation of the couture gowns (especially when the head seamstress Antonietta has a fit over the state of some embroidery). I was also moved by the scene with the designer in his archive before the 45th anniversary celebration, so many collections, year after year...
Here are some of the dresses from the film that I'd most like to wear:

ah i can't wait; it premieres in houston this friday!! i've been waiting for a year to see this film. xo.
If you want to see more behind-the-scenes at a couturier, the House of Eliott is a British series about 2 sisters who run a fashion house in 1920s London - it was made in the 90s and looks a little low-budget but it's the best show ever. I highly recommend it. It's on Netflix.
