Bursting at the Seams!

It's that time of year at The Closet. So although it might take a little time to explore and search through the racks, we can guarantee you will find something amazing. This morning we received cashmere knits from Alexander Wang, a bit of Jane Mayle (whose pieces have become collectable since she closed up shop), and some Marni. Come and see for yourself!

Not the Right Fit, or Is It?
Stylista premiered last night and although I don't know if I will continue watching (too much of a typical forced reality show) it was a treat to see Kate Lanphear, the elegant style director at Elle onscreen, even though she didn't say much. I don't much care for her boss Anne Slowey (she can't even walk in her heels!), but Kate's tailored rock star style is awesome and an inspiration.
After all anyone who can't pay the rent cause they bought Balenciaga gladiators in every color certainly has some heavy duty fashion dedication. In the end I did enjoy seeing a dress I bought at H&M last season appear on the runway and get a glowing review, but none of the characters are very enjoyable. Oh well, maybe I will give it another chance...Also since I'm not allowed any more black clutches, please help end my daydreaming and buy this:

Just In:
1 Red/Gold Plated + 1 Black/Silver and Palladium Plated = 2 Hermes H Clasp Narrow Enamel Bracelets. We don't get these often so you better come in and snatch one, or both up!
Costume Ideas
Halloween is almost here so I thought this sweater from Christian Dior might help you think of some costume ideas...also although The Closet is not a costume shop, we are Halloween friendly so depending on how creative you are, I think you can find some great things.

Rochas is Back for Fall 2009

If you can't wait that long, The Closet has this elegant black dress from Olivier Theysken's final collection for Rochas from Fall 2006. The fabric is textured and tightly woven, so although the body conscious cut doesn't leave much to the imagination, you will still look demure in this impeccably made design.
Fashion Month is over, and I didn't even get to go :( Oh well. At least Style.com helps me pretend I was there. I find the special fashion week pictures by Scott Schuman/The Sartorialist very inspiring. It is fun to see what the fashion people wear during the shows (especially the girls from French Vogue) since you know they are putting on their favorite pieces of the season. I also discovered JAK&JIL which is hard to look at without wanting ever pair of shoes you see. If it was me running around the Tuileries, I think I would fit right in with these Marni platforms...

The LV we posted the other day has a big sister (Suhali Lockit PM) to keep her company! We also have a chocolate brown Jimmy Choo with gold hardware, a metallic purple Tod's, and an olive Bottega Veneta, woven with gold grommets, you know the one!

Japanese Fashion for All!
Rei Kawakubo's collection for H&M debuted online a couple of days ago, and now that the hubub over the infamous $349 dress has subsided (It's original Comme des Garcons folks!) I would like to remind you that The Closet always has a wonderful variety of Comme des Garcons at some pretty amazing prices. If you love avant-garde Japanese fashion and are willing to spend some time I can guarantee you will find a treasure. Some of the items snapped up recently included a Junya Watanabe (former apprentice to Kawakubo) navy jacket with a heavenly pillow collar, a perfectly tailored satin suit by CDG, and a rare black Yohji Yamamoto leather clutch.

I would like to entice you to visit The Closet this weekend, so let me just say, we are filled to the brim...this time of year is like Christmas for The Closet! New arrivals include a Stella McCartney short black swing jacket, a stunning coat from Roland Mouret, gowns by Narcisco Rodriguez and Alberta Ferretti, as well as loads of Manolos. The racks are overflowing with Marc Jacobs, Vince, and Juicy Couture. We have lots of cashmere, amazing boots, and lovely fall dresses. I could go on and on!

The Closet in the News
There is a nice piece about consignment stores in the Boston Globe today! It's titled Thrifty and Nifty and is a great description of the shop.

Investment Options
Times are tough for everyone, but I promise you will feel much better if you have been shopping at The Closet. Just think about all the money you are saving! So although it doesn't seem like the best time to put your money into the stock market, you can feel good about investing in a classic black Suhali leather Louis Vuitton L'Aimable. Don't forget you are partaking in a very stylish recycling program as well!
